How CBD works

Menstrual Pain and Inflammation

The shedding in the inner lining of the uterus tissue — known as the endometrium — causes menstrual cramps. As this lining falls off each month and your body goes through the period, endometrial cells break apart as a result of coming loose. Their remnants are released into nearby body parts.
Some of these molecules are enzymes that trigger inflammation and pain. They are known as prostaglandins and prostacyclins. One particular prostaglandin — PGF2 — causes contraction of the uterus and surrounding muscles.
CBD’s efficacy at reducing inflammation and mitigating pain signals is the major reason why many women are turning to CBD for menstrual cramps.

Treating Endometriosis

CBD & Endometriosis

Extensive studies illustrate CBD’s positive effects, promoting an overall improved sense of well-being. Even more significant is that studies show that CBD can do more than relieve pain: it can inhibit the spread of endometrial cells throughout the body. That’s because the human body has an endocannabinoid system, a complex cell signaling network with a series of receptors that help regulate certain bodily functions. The endocannabinoid system was discovered only as recently as the early 1990s, but some researchers believe it can become deficient in some people. More specifically, its two cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, can become deficient and possibly contribute to endometriosis. CBD has been shown to stimulate these CB1 and CB2 receptors, easing endometriosis pain and slowing its progression.

What is CBD?

RED MOON Period Care - What is CBD?
CBD is one of the many active compounds found in the cannabis plant. Interacting with your body’s endocannabinoid system, it helps to maintain a state of balance. CBD has no psychoactive feeling like THC does. It is widely used because it may offer a number of health benefits.
Though research is still emerging, early studies suggest that it’s possible benefits include:
  • pain relief from various conditions
  • better sleep
  • relief from anxiety disorders
  • intervention for certain types of addiction
